Institute of Public Affairs and Governance (IPAG) is a black owned Training Company based in Polokwane, South Africa. We are a 100% Black Economic Empowerment company, driven by our team’s passion for education, training and development and committed to excellent service. The training scope is within the Governance and public affairs matters within the African context. The foundation of the company is solely grounded within the primary intention to provide and facilitate knowledge which will improve the skills capacity in the context of the African public and the private sector. It is within the vision of a workable public service and sector that Institute of Public Affairs and Governance (IPAG) found its reason for existence. OUR MISSION AND VALUES
The mission of the Institute of Public Affairs and Governance are as follows:
- To identify educational needy within the community for skills and knowledge empowerment and development
- To play a leading role as a sole champion of community service, skills and knowledge empowerment
- To play an active role in the socio-economic development of surrounding communities
- To actively play an active role in knowledge and skills development and empowerment of local councillors and officials
- Provide and facilitate quality formal and informal educational programmes for community empowerment
- Interact with municipalities and public service human resources units to find solutions for incapacity problems
PROGRAMMES OF THE INSTITUTE
The Institute offers both formal and informal learning programmes.
Formal Learning Programmes
The following formal learning programmes are offered by the institute and are accredited by Local Government SETA.
- Certificate: Municipal Financial Management SAQA ID 48965 (Credits: 166) NQ F Level 6
- National Diploma: Public Finance Management and Administration SAQA ID 49554 (Credits: 260) NQF Level 5
- Further Education and Training Certificate: Municipal Finance and Administratio SAQA ID 50372 (Credits: 157)
- The National Diploma is offered over a period of 2 years and the potential candidates should either be in employment already or the institute has to obtain an internship for potential candidates before admission into the programme.
Certification
Upon completion of the abovementioned qualifications the certification will be issued and awarded by LGSETA at a ceremony arranged with the Institute of Public Affairs and Governance as a training service provider.
Admission and entrance to qualifications
Prospective candidates should at least have National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) for admission into the Diploma programme and or relevant work experience for admission in the Certificate programmes.

The following informal learning programme are offered by the Institute and are provided on a workshop based approach. The workshops are advertised and are conducted on a three-day basis course.

- Upon Completion of an informal learning programme, only a certificate of attendance can be issued by the Institute of Public Affairs and Governance. For attendees who did not complete the whole course, no attendance certificate will be issued.
COMPLIANCE AND REGISTRATIONS
The Institute of Public Affairs and Governance is a duly registered company in South Africa (Registered no. 2019/221 533/07). It is duly SARS compliant and it is a Level 1 BBBEE company compliant with all requirements of the South African Company Act.

Skills training and research
The Institute of Public Affairs and Governance is a registered post graduate training provider with biased interest in skills development and research. The Institute of Public Affairs and Public Governance (IPAG) is driven by a passion for education, training and development and committed to research excellent. The training scope is provided within the Governance and public affairs matters within the African context. IPAG is solely grounded within the primary intention to provide and facilitate knowledge which will improve the skills capacity in the African public and the private sector context. On occasional basis the Institute shall use make calls for research writing workshops which target Masters and PHD candidates who struggles to write workable research proposals. The Institute uses exceptional expertise of researchers with exceptional track record of Masters and Doctoral output. The classes are facilitated by experts Masters and Doctoral supervisors with known record of post graduate output. The target duration of a workable research proposal is 5 Saturdays of intensive engagement and writing. The methodology of facilitation is based on interactive instructional approach between the students and the facilitator.
Conferences and Seminars
The Institute of Public Affairs and Governance shall as an individual organisation or in cooperation with other institutions (public or private) host Conferences and Seminars within the area of public affairs and governance. The aim of such activities is to promote generation of knowledge through interaction with both academics and practitioners of public administration.
